My Favorite Way to Serve a Crowd

There’s something magical about a summer morning.

The sun rises a little earlier, the garden feels extra vibrant, and everything just begs to be shared. Around here, summer brunch is less about perfection and more about creating a table where people can relax, enjoy and stay a little longer than they planned.

One of my go-to gatherings? A Build-Your-Own Bloody Mary Bar.

It’s the perfect blend of fun and ease. You get to show off beautiful ingredients, guests get to customize their own cocktail, and you don’t have to play bartender all morning. Everyone wins.

Here’s how I like to set it up:

1. Start with a Beautiful Base

You know I’m going to say it — the foundation is everything. I serve both of our blends: Diane’s Original and Dirty Diane’s (for my friends who like a little heat). Pour them into carafes and keep them chilled on ice.

2. Offer More Than Vodka

While a classic Bloody is always in style, I love offering a few other spirits too. Tequila, gin or even a splash of sparkling wine can completely change the flavor profile. And of course, keep a mocktail version on hand — our mixes are naturally nourishing and stand beautifully on their own.

3. Create a Garnish Garden

This is where the fun begins. Think beyond celery. I love setting out skewers of grilled shrimp, pickled green beans, pepperoncini, sliced cucumbers, mini bell peppers, olives, lemon wedges and fresh herbs. If you want to really wow your guests, use mason jars to show off the ingredients in layers. It’s edible décor.

4. Don’t Forget the Rim

Set out bowls with flavored salts: classic celery salt, smoked sea salt, and even chili-lime salt for a little kick. Rub lemon or lime on the rim of each glass and let your guests go wild.

5. Add Something Sweet

I always include a small tray of fresh fruit or warm pastry bites — something that balances the savory and rounds out the experience. No one ever turns down a buttery mini biscuit.

Summer is the season to loosen up, invite your favorite people over and let the moment unfold. You don’t need a reason to gather — just a pitcher of something delicious and a little sunshine.

From my garden to your glass!
Cheers,
Diane
